■ A single machine clone system without installation, Clonezilla live, is also available. For unsupported filesystems, sector-to-sector copy is done by dd in Clonezilla. ■ Unlike Ghost for Linux or Ghost for Unix, in Clonezilla, if the filesystem is supported, only used blocks in hard drives are saved and restored. ■ Unlike ntfsclone and Partimage, which are created only for partitions, Clonezilla contains some other programs that help you save and restore not only partitions, but even a whole disk. You can also remotely use it to save or restore a bunch of computers if PXE and Wake-on-LAN are supported in your clients. Go through the Gparted Live boot steps using the following settings. Insert the Gparted Live boot CD and start your VM copy (may have to reboot if doesn’t boot to CD first time) 6. Shutdown the VM copy and change Advanced settings Startup Device to CD/DVD. Built around GParted, the ultimate partitioning software, the GParted Live CD is probably the simplest way to use GParted on any computer regardless of what operating system it runs. Start your VM copy to make sure everything is okay. ■ Multicast is supported in PXEBoot Clonezilla, which is suitable for massively cloning. The GParted Live CD is a simple Linux distro you can use to change the size of your partitions or wipe a drive entirely. For other filesystems, Clonezilla uses dd to dump the whole partition. Therefore you can clone GNU/Linux or Microsoft Windows. ■ Filesystems supported: ext2, ext3, reiserfs, xfs, jfs of GNU/Linux, and FAT, NTFS. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems. GParted is used for creating, deleting, 3 resizing, 4 moving, checking, and copying disk partitions and their file systems. The CD aims to be fast, small in size (50mb), and use minimal resources to get that disk. GParted (acronym of GNOME Partition Editor) is a GTK front-end to GNU Parted and an official GNOME partition-editing application (alongside Disks ). ![]() Gparted-Clonezilla LiveCD was born from these popular LiveCDs (GParted and Clonezilla) to bring you more power and efficiency on your daily tasks (hard disk partitioning and cloning). The power and simplicity of GParted on a biz-card size LiveCD. Unlike Ghost for Unix/Linux LiveCDs, Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the hard drives. Based on Partition Image, DRBL, ntfsclone, and udpcast, Clonezilla allows you to massively clone many computers simultaneously. Some of you already knew about the popular GParted LiveCD, a Linux-based operating system that can help you partition your hard drives, and of course about the Clonezilla LiveCD, another Linux-based mini OS that can help you clone systems.
